STD PROSTATITIS: IDENTIFY THE SYMTOMS

By checking the urethra, the bladder urine, and secretions from the prostate after the prostate examination and by doing the appropriate tests to detect infection cells and cultures in these fluids, the cause of the genital symptoms can usually be determined. Sometimes evidence of infection may be seen in several of the fluids. Prostate symptoms can be caused by many factors, however, and if the appropriate range of tests is not performed both provider and patient can become frustrated. For example, if antibiotics aren’t successful in treating the symptoms because the cause of the symptoms was not bacterial in the first place, then more or different antibiotics won’t be successful either. The real cause of the symptoms must be uncovered in order for treatment to be effective. Sorting out the various possibilities can sometimes be difficult. In complex situations, a visit to a urologist is a good idea.
